Memphis Grizzlies Player Preview: Chandler Parsons is Ultimate X-Factor

Offensive Behavior
Chandler Parsons’ playmaking from the wing is his other trademark skill. His per-36 assist numbers from last year rank among his best, along with static turnover rates. This suggests his ability to create looks for others may not have eroded with his health.
Conversely, a fully-healthy Parsons is likely Memphis’ most qualified candidate as a third scorer behind Conley and Gasol. Pre-injury, he was good for 15-16 points/game, and could get his buckets both spotting up and driving.
But sadly, numerous knee injuries will sap a player’s explosiveness, and Parsons will likely struggle to beat defenders off the bounce. He is crafty enough to engineer some new moves, but will have lots of rust to polish off.
His offensive impact will be crucial, as Parsons is a career minus defender; something bad knees certainly will not improve. Luckily, there are not many — if any — defensive holes around him in the Memphis Grizzlies’ rotation, which makes hiding him easy in most lineups.
