Takeaways

The Memphis Grizzlies played another grind-it-out type of game, but this time, they were unable to come out on top. Mistakes on both sides of the ball led to the Grizzlies blowing a double-digit lead on the ground.

The Sacramento Kings were able to gain a lot of momentum in the second half by getting easy buckets in transition. There are a few reasons as to why this occurred.

The Memphis Grizzlies were making sloppy passes. The Kings were being aggressive on defense and the Grizz did not do anything about it.

They continued to play a slow tempo offense, but they did not have much movement on offense. Against Utah, they moved better and were able to get open shots.

In the second half, the offense seemed forced as the Grizzlies could not get into any kind of rhythm. The Kings were able to take advantage and that is a big reason how they were able to complete the comeback.

The Grizzlies were settling for way too many jumpers on offense. They shot 37 threes while the Kings shot just 18 of them. When you dominate inside, the way Memphis did early on, there is no excuse for settling for so many jumpers.

Grizzlies Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff knows that and he will make the proper adjustments to prepare for Phoenix. The Kings did do a much better job defending in the second half, so they do deserve a lot of credit.

This is more about how the Memphis Grizzlies lost it rather than how Sacramento won it. Memphis needs to play better and a lot smarter if they want to be able to think about the playoffs at all.
