The Memphis Grizzlies face the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday evening. In the early season, Memphis has made the better decisions in drafting and trading.

In looking to finish a two-game road trip on Wednesday, the Memphis Grizzlies (2-1) face one of their most familiar foes in the Sacramento Kings (1-3).

Memphis versus Sacramento may not be a big-time rivalry, but the two franchises have commonly swapped players one way or another in recent seasons.

Additionally, in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Kings held the No. 2 overall pick, while the Grizzlies selected at No. 4 overall. When these two clubs hit the hardwood, a big conversation will be comparing and contrasting the young frontcourt players Marvin Bagley III and Jaren Jackson Jr.

By taking a look at the Sacramento Kings’ roster, their head coach is none other than the former leader of the Memphis Grizzlies, Dave Joerger. He began his Grizzly tenure in the 2007-08 season as an assistant coach and eventually became the head coach to start 2013-14.

Though Joerger only lasted three seasons in the head role with the Grizzlies organization, he brought them three consecutive seasons of playoff appearances. Say what you want about Dave, but he helped prolong the “Grit-‘N’-Grind” days of Grizz basketball.

Dave Joerger enjoyed a few of his players so much in Memphis that he has assisted in bringing them to the Sacramento Kings organization. Remaining on their current roster are former Grizzlies in Kosta Koufos, Ben McLemore, Zach Randolph, and Troy Williams.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ fourth regular season game of 2018-19 is another opportunity for the squad to build chemistry in addition to striving for a three-game winning streak. However, this showdown is highlighted on two significant events from the offseason. Beale Street Bears breaks it down for you.
