Though the Memphis Grizzlies lost by five points to the Sacramento Kings, many fans were more worried about something else.

After leading the Sacramento Kings nearly the entire game, the Memphis Grizzlies still came up five points short at the end of Wednesday night.

Mike Conley had an impressive 27 points, which was a major statement of dominance on the court.  It has been great seeing him return to form.

Though the team played pretty well, there was one key moment when the game started to digress. This was when the Memphis Grizzlies’ three-time All-Star center, Marc Gasol,  fell to the ground after a rebound gone wrong. He took a blow from a De’Aaron Fox elbow while achieving rebounding position.

As soon as this happened, based on the Memphis Grizzlies’ past relationship with injuries, Grizz fans thought the worst. Many speculated it could possibly be a broken collarbone or a major neck injury. As he continued to stay down, the severity of the situation only seemed to increase.

Luckily, in a tweet released on Thursday by the Memphis Grizzlies, the team is saying it is only a tender neck and back. As of now, Gasol is listed as a game time decision for Saturday’s home matchup up versus the Phoenix Suns.

When the team lands in Memphis, the Grizzlies’ team doctors will evaluate his condition further and more information will be released. Gasol is currently averaging 13.5 points, 9 rebounds, and three assists per game.

The team will be in major trouble if Marc is out for an extended period of time bring as they have a short frontcourt rotation. It was already short enough prior to Week One’s JaMychal Green injury, which has him sidelined for the next month.
