With another road win last night against the Utah Jazz, the Memphis Grizzlies improved to 5-2 and currently sit undefeated at home.
One Month In: How Do The Grizzlies Rank?
This is a whole new team Grizzlies’ fans are seeing out of Beale Street. Coach Bickerstaff has slowly started to perfect the rotations that keep the team centered around their strong leadership and playmaking ability.
Fans are excited to see a healthy Mike Conley who is averaging 20.3 points per game. The team is offensively one of the best squads in franchise history; averaging over 100 points per game thus far.
Fans are seeing great hustle out of bench players like Jaren Jackson Jr., Marshon Brooks, Dillon Brooks, and Shelvin Mack (Who put up 19 points Friday night).
Overall, the Grizzlies start this season is proving to the rest of the league that one bad year is all that this franchise is willing to accept. One major aspect of the game this team does need to improve on though is their rebounding.
Out of seven games, Memphis has only outrebounded their opponent twice. Those were in home wins against the Phoenix Suns and the Washington Wizards.
With JaMychal Green hopeful to return in a few weeks he will help in that department. By waiving Andrew Harrison they do have an open roster spot if they feel the need to sign a big man who can help with the rebounding.
5th In The West
Currently, the Memphis Grizzlies sit at 5th in the Western Conference with their 5-2 record. They rank behind the Golden State Warriors (9-1), The Denver Nuggets (7-1), The Portland Trail Blazers (6-2), and the San Antonio Spurs (5-2).
The Grizzlies got off to a similar start last season but were plagued by multiple injuries. This team has already dealt with injuries to key guys this season and they’ve continued to win ball games.
If all continues to go well for Memphis, fans can expect a winning season out of this year’s roster. The Grizzlies next games will be on the road against the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors.
This will also be the first back-to-back of the season for Memphis so it will be interesting to see how the Grizzlies respond.
