Memphis Grizzlies: 4 Key Players That Are Vital for Wing Depth
By Chris Kern
Shelvin Mack
Shelvin Mack has had a good start through the first seven games. He has averaged 10.3 points and 3.9 assists in 25.8 minutes per game.
After a bad season-opener in Indiana, he has played much better the past four games. You cannot hold anything against him for that game as the whole team struggled that night.
Mack had a stretch in the first Utah game where he hit a few big shots that were key for Memphis. He had a season-high 12 points that night. That included hitting both of his three-point attempts.

He also played a big role in their home win over the Washington Wizards. His playmaking alongside Mike Conley was key as he finished with 14 points and eight assists.
Mack also played a key role in the Memphis Grizzlies’ second game in Utah, which also ended in a Grizz win. He ended that game with 19 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
His back-to-back three-pointers late in that third quarter were huge for this team. It helped them get to the fourth quarter with a five-point lead.
Shelvin Mack’s role could continue to change day-to-day basis. On some nights, Memphis will need him in the game more than others. Either way, Mack is going be a key piece of this team going forward. They need his assertiveness.
