3 Takeaways From The Memphis Grizzlies Loss In Phoenix

Grizzlies Stars Struggle
There’s no way around it, Marc Gasol and Mike Conley had terrible offensive performances. If it wasn’t for other players stepping up in a big way Memphis would’ve had no chance.
Despite those two struggling from the field that’s where they continually went down the stretch. It makes sense that you want your best players with the ball but at some point, you have to mix it up and get it to the guys who have been scoring baskets for you.
Conley has struggled to shoot the ball so far this season but somehow it got even worse tonight. He finished with just 12 points on 3-16 shooting including making just one of his five three-point attempts.
Gasol somehow managed to shoot the ball even worse than his point guard did. He had just seven points on 2-13 shooting including not making any of the four three-pointers he took.
This was the first time he failed to get to double-digits in these first eight games. It’s not a coincidence though that the three games he has struggled in, have been the three losses.
He was 2-11 shooting in Indiana and then was 4-13 in Sacramento. The Pacers game was just an all-around disaster and the Grizzlies have shown that’s not who they are as a basketball team.
This loss to the Suns was similar to the one against the Kings. Another double-digit lead was blown on the road because they are unable to get critical buckets late in the fourth quarter.
This team has other guys who can make shots but they have to be able to rely on Conley and Gasol at the end of close games. If they can’t do that, expect many more tough losses like they had Sunday night.
