Memphis Grizzlies: Is Marc Gasol Holding Back?
By Blake Monroe
There is no doubt Memphis Grizzlies most beloved center, Marc Gasol loves this team. Even to point to the question, is he holding back to build others up?
The Leader Marc Gasol
Marc Gasol has been with the Grizzlies since the start of his career and has made his intentions clear to stay in Memphis. Gasol is the Grizzlies all-time leading scorer and is a three-time all-star as well as the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year.
He has proven his skill in both the Euroleague and the NBA. Gasol has been regarded as one of the best Centers in the league during his prime and many even believe he is a future Hall of Fame Player. This being said, could he still be better today?
Big man players are on the rise in the league today, with players like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, and Joel Embid. All incredible players, and more importantly young.
But as seen from last nights when over the Denver Nuggets, Gasol, now 33, has more to offer than meets the eye.
Gasol has always shown leadership on and off the court. After his highlight drives through the lane to finish with slam dunks last night, he may be holding back to let the rest of the team shine.
He is allowing younger players to build their skill and credibility, in the league, while still putting up above average stats. He is the player of Memphis and will always be Memphis’ Player at Heart.
He has to lead this team and will continue to lead this team in the upcoming games. A close win over one of the top teams in the league just goes to show what good leadership on the court can look like.
