Memphis Grizzlies: 5 players performing well so far this season
By Chris Kern
Mike Conley
Mike Conley has struggled to shoot the ball for many of these games to start the season. Despite that, he is still making a huge impact and is looking like he hasn’t missed a beat since missing the majority of last season.
For all the struggles he has seemed to have early in the season he has still managed to average 19.2 points and 5.6 assists per game.
A lot of that has to do with averaging 27.3 points over the last three games but it just shows how much of an impact he has on this team even when his shot hasn’t been falling.
While he has started playing better and hitting shots the percentages are still a bit disappointing. He is shooting just 39.7% from the field and just 30.9% from three-point range.
After scoring just 13 combined points in the games against Golden State and Denver he followed that up with a breakout performance against Philadelphia.
He scored 32 points to help lead the Grizzlies to an overtime win in front of the home crowd at the FedEx Forum.
Even in the games in which he has scored single digits he has still been instrumental offensively. He takes so much pressure off the defense with his ability to attack the basket and it has opened up shots for his teammates and they have been knocking them down.
If Conley can continue to score the ball like he has the past three games this team will continue to win games. He won’t get the recognition he deserves but he is looking like his old self as one of the best point guards in this league.
