Memphis Grizzlies: 5 players performing well so far this season
By Chris Kern
Marc Gasol
Marc Gasol has been much more engaged than he was last season and it has shown. He is playing at a high level despite some of his numbers being down from a year ago.
The Grizzlies have more offensive threats this season so Gasol hasn’t needed to carry the load by himself as he did at times last season.
By having more scorers around him it has led to him being much more efficient, especially from three-point range.

He hasn’t been as aggressive offensively which has led to him attempting just 12.6 shot attempts per game. That would be his lowest mark since the 2013-14 season.
At times his passive play has hurt the team but again this team has plenty of guys that can make plays offensively.
He is shooting 43.6% from three-point range which would be well above his averages the past couple seasons when he initially added the three-point shot to his arsenal.
He has been making an impact defensively but not the normal way that he has in the past. When he was considered an elite defender it was his shot-blocking that made the biggest impact.
This season it has been his ability to get into passing lanes. He is averaging a career-best 1.8 steals per game while averaging a career-worst 0.8 blocks per game.
His game has continued to evolve throughout his career and that has continued into this season. Despite being 34 years old and past his prime he has made a big impact.
The Memphis Grizzlies are rolling and he has been a big reason why. He is reenergized and playing like the all-star he once was.
