Crashing the Glass

Though the Memphis Grizzlies own the league’s best defense, their rebouding department is surprisingly poor. They are tied with the Phoenix Suns for fewest total rebounds per game at 43.7 per game.

The return of JaMychal Green to the rotation will definitely help their ranking as he is a man of the boards. However, this clearly shows the team’s need for additional frontcourt depth.

Luckily with Joakim Noah, a rebounding threat can be had. Even with Noah not expected to play a major role if he indeed joins Memphis, it is all about the ability and threat on the glass.

In playing just seven games with the New York Knicks last season while clearly not being the All-Star-caliber player he once was, he still produced double figure rebounding numbers in his per-36 statistics.

Noah is another big body with great length that can box out, gain post position, and battle in the painted area. He is a gritty type of player that the Grizzlies fan base has grown to enjoy over the years of the team’s existence in Memphis, Tennessee. This only adds to the theory that Joakim would succeed while wearing a Grizzlies uniform.
