Top 10 Things Memphis Grizzlies Fans Should Be Thankful For
Chris Wallace’s Offseason Moves
After much criticism received since Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace assumed the position in 2007, he is finally finding positive ground.
This current Grizzly bunch is making Chris Wallace look like a mastermind, though he did undo a few poor decisions of the past during the 2018 offseason.
Wallace was able to turn Ben McLemore and Deyonta Davis into Garrett Temple. Davis is now G-League-bound and McLemore is on the outside looking in on playing time with the Kings.
He also forced his way into snagging Kyle Anderson away from the interdivisional rival San Antonio Spurs. Though Wallace failed to retain the Grizzlies’ leading scorer from last season — Tyreke Evans — a starting-caliber forward with many years left in the tank is now a piece of the franchise’s future.
The trade of Jarell Martin indirectly led to the Memphis Grizzlies adding Shelvin Mack and Omri Casspi. Both guys have done a superb job in bolstering the team’s bench, while Martin did not live up to expectations in the 901.
Plus, in looking at the 2018 NBA Draft, Chris Wallace was able to snag two promising rookies that are NBA-ready. Though Jevon Carter is stuck in a backcourt logjam, Jaren Jackson Jr. is making his case for Rookie of the Year. The future is exceptionally bright for the Grizzlies, and this is something that has rarely been said about Memphis’ NBA team.
