Talented Memphis Hustle

A big reason for the upswing in youth development efforts by the Memphis Grizzlies is the existence of the Memphis Hustle, their G-League affiliate.

In the Hustle’s second season, their roster continues to improve. This is largely in part to the Grizzlies’ two two-way contracts in Yuta Watanabe and University of Memphis alum D.J. Stephens. Plus, Jevon Carter has been dominating the defense while on assignment with the Hustle.

Having the Hustle located just miles from the Grindhouse allows for the team to quickly assign and recall players as they please. This provides maximum opportunity for in-game experience for the Grizzlies’  developmental projects.

Though the Memphis Grizzlies have tremendous depth this season, they can always count on the Hustle to assist with providing extra bodies. In a few seasons, Watanabe and Stephens could very well be playing significant minutes for the Grizz. Carter could be seeing big minutes as soon as next season with his stellar two-way potential.

Grizz Nation has to be extremely thankful for the urgency the Front Office has finally placed on developing the team’s youth. They now have a plan in place, where no such thing existed just a few seasons ago.
