Maximum Depth and Versatility

There are many factors that have combined to provide extreme depth for the Memphis Grizzlies in 2018-19. This has also led to maximum versatility.

Only a few players on the current roster are limited to playing just one position. This was a vision that Chris Wallace and J.B. Bickerstaff had during the offseason. Not only did they want stifiling team defense, but they wanted to have a plethora of interchangeable pieces to their Grizzly puzzle.

Through 17 games, Memphis is proving to be one of the NBA’s deepest rosters, with the entire roster deserving of playing time. Though it is difficult to get each player into a regular playing routine, a few minor injuries have helped Bickerstaff in planning his rotations.

With Dillon Brooks and Chandler Parsons currently sidelined, along with Omri Casspi recently returning from the injured list, Grizz Nation  must be thankful for the team’s depth.

They team has not missed a beat during these players’ absences. If anything, the team has become better due to enabling a tighter and more consistent rotation on a nightly basis.

When you look at championship rosters, one common denominator is great bench production and overall team depth. In the Grizzlies’ 12-5 record, that is something that has been consistently demonstrated, and that trend should continue, too. This is yet another reason NBA fans should expect to see Memphis in the postseason come mid-April.
