Memphis Grizzlies: 5 Under The Radar NBA Draft Prospects
By Chris Kern
Caleb Martin
Caleb Martin is a dynamic offensive player. He’s as good of a scorer as there is in the college game.
His ability to hit contested shots is something that many players can’t do. The Grizzlies have solid wing players but they don’t a guy who can score the ball like Martin, not even MarShon Brooks.
He spent his first two seasons at NC State but he and his brother both decided to transfer to Nevada. They made the Sweet 16 last season and now they’re a national title contender.
He was named the Mountain West Player of the year and many expected him to declare for the draft. They expected his twin Cody Martin to declare as well but instead, they both came back, as did their star teammate Jordan Caroline.
They all three probably would’ve been second round picks and that’s where they likely will be in next years draft if they were to get drafted at all.
Caleb Martin is the best player on that team. He hits so many tough shots in clutch moments which don’t even seem possible.
Through the teams first six games he is averaging 21 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
The majority of his scoring comes from three-point range. He has made 37% of his three’s while attempting 9.5 per game.
He is currently projected to go 47th in next years draft by NBADraft.net. His ability to score the basketball is something Memphis needs and should be enough to warrant selecting him with their second-round selection.
