The Memphis Grizzlies started the season with one of the best second units in basketball. Without Dillon Brooks, they have not been making much of an impact.

Dillon Brooks is still expected to be out a few weeks but it’s becoming evident that he was a key part of this team despite his struggles. The Memphis Grizzlies have found a way to win games still, but the bench hasn’t been as effective.

They need Brooks to play more minutes with the starters in place of Garrett Temple. That doesn’t mean Temple is in jeopardy of losing his job, but the team would benefit from his minutes decreasing.

He shot the ball extremely well to start the season and now he is starting to cool off. It was expected to happen and it seems to be happening to all these guys at the same time.

The role players were the reason got off to such a good start to the season. Mike Conley and Marc Gasol were struggling but now it seems to be the complete opposite.

The rest of the team is struggling for the most part and it has made it harder to win games. They’ve lost back-to-back games after winning five straight so there’s no reason to panic.

Every game in the western conference matters though, so they’ll need to find a way to win games before Brooks returns.

With Chandler Parsons out with knee soreness and no end in sight I think we can assume he is going to be at the very least out long term, maybe won’t even play another game in a Memphis uniform.

The Grizzlies can’t afford to go on a big losing streak. They need to find a way to get some offense from the second unit as well as being able to play with the toughness Brooks plays with every time he’s on the floor.
