The Memphis Grizzlies don’t have a lot of young assets on their team. They should consider dealing for Markelle Fultz if the price is right.
By now we have all heard about the drama surrounding Markelle Fultz. This will lead to many teams pondering whether they should make a trade. The Memphis Grizzlies could be one of those teams.
He wouldn’t be a great fit on this years team but with everything that’s going on with Fultz, he likely wouldn’t play much wherever he ends up.
Many fans won’t like this potential move but it’s a low risk, high reward move. He is just 20 years old so it is too early to label him a bust.
His shooting form isn’t good but he can still impact the game in other ways. One of his best games of the season actually came when the Grizzlies beat Philadelphia earlier this season.
He finished the game with 14 points on seven for nine shooting. He was aggressive attacking the basket and showed flashes of his talent that led to him being the number one overall pick.
After playing in just 14 games his rookie season he has already played in 19 this year, though he may not play in many more.
He did start in 15 of those 19 games which were before the Jimmy Butler trade. After that move, they decided to move J.J. Redick into the starting lineup to add another shooter.
Fultz has averaged 8.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. He is shooting 42% from the field but just 29% from three-point range.
There are some legitimate concerns about his health both physically and mentally early on in his career. If he can move past those, he has a chance to be special and that’s why the Grizzlies should consider trading for him.
