Brandon Goodwin has been playing great basketball to start his G-League career. The Memphis Grizzlies have him a chance but now he is on his way to Denver.
The Denver Nuggets have injuries at the guard spot to guys like Will Barton and Isaiah Thomas so this adding another guard is good for them.
Brandon Goodwin was one of the best mid-major players during his junior and senior seasons in college. He spent his first two seasons at Central Florida before transferring to Florida Gulf Coast.
He had some issues during his time at UCF that led to him transferring but it turned out okay for him. His play at FGCU is what led to the Grizzlies having interest in him and why he got the opportunity to play for this organization.
Goodwin averaged 18.5 points, 5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in his two seasons at FGCU. He did a little bit of everything for his team which led to him being named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the year.
One of the areas of concerns for him is his low three-point percentage. He had a good junior season where he shot 35% from deep, but other than that he shot below 28% his other three seasons.

His play in the G-League has surprised a lot of people. They expected him to contribute but he is putting up big numbers almost every game.
He is averaging 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. He is also shooting 33% from three-point range which is good to see and will be interesting to see if he can sustain that.
Goodwin recently broke the Memphis Hustle single-game scoring record when he dropped 36 points in a road win over the Northern Arizona Suns.
He’s ready for this opportunity and he’s excited to get started. In such a short time with the Hustle he has already been signed to an NBA roster.
The Nuggets won’t rely on him long-term but if he can come in and contribute over the next couple of weeks maybe he will become a part of their future plans.
Everyone in Memphis will be sad to see him go but he is ready for this opportunity. The staff here at Beale Street Bears and the whole city of Memphis wish him nothing but the best going forward.
