Memphis Grizzlies: 3 Bench Players Needed To Beat The Los Angeles Clippers
By Chris Kern
JaMychal Green
JaMychal Green has started to play at a high level. After being injured so early in the season he is just now starting to get into a rhythm.
The Clippers have really good bigs that will give the Grizzlies struggles. Marcin Gortat and Boban Marjanovic are two guys who will play center so Green likely won’t play against those two very much.

Green has the capability to defend center’s if needed but the Grizzlies will likely have one of Marc Gasol and Jaren Jackson Jr. in the game at all times.
When Joakim Noah starts playing then Green will likely be strictly a power forward for the future but that might not be on Wednesday.
The Clippers have many versatile forwards who Green will be matched up against at times. Danilo Gallinari and Tobias Harris are two guys who are skilled offensive players Memphis needs to contain.
Montrezl Harrell off the bench is one of the best backup bigs in the league and he’s a candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year award.
Green will have his hands full on Wednesday night but he has had a good season thus far so we can trust him to match the impact of the Clippers backup bigs.
In the ten games he has played in he has averaged 9.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He is also shooting a career-best 42% from three-point range this season. That will help a Grizzlies offense that has struggled recently as they try to take down the top-seeded Clippers at home.
His versatility is key for him and he showed that last game by defending the smaller players the Clippers would play at the four spot.
In the first meeting, Green had six points and nine rebounds in 33 minutes of play despite fouling out.
He has started to get in a rhythm and he needs to continue to have a big impact. The Grizzlies have lost four of five and his play will be key to picking up a big win as they look to get back on track.
