Memphis Grizzlies: 3 Keys To Victory Against The Los Angeles Lakers
By Chris Kern
Win The Turnover Margin
The Turnover margin is a big part of the Grizzlies strategy every game but it is even more of a factor in this game.
Memphis turns it over just 13.6 times a game which is the 4th lowest mark in the league while the Lakers turn it over 15.6 times which is 24th in the league.
Both of these teams are in similar areas in points allowed off of these turnovers. The Grizzlies 15.7 points allowed is the 6th best while the Lakers are 21st with 17.9 points allowed per game.

The Grizzlies ability to score off of these turnovers are a big part of their offense.
Their points off of turnovers account for 19.2% of their offense which is the 3rd highest mark in the league.
We’ve all seen Memphis go on many cold spells where they can’t seem to find a bucket.
Getting extra possessions and easy baskets off these turnovers are some of the ways they’ve been able to minimize the effect of some of their offensive struggles.
The Lakers score 15.8% of their points off of turnovers which is the 12th best mark in the league which has improved due to some better defensive play.
Memphis has to do a good job forcing turnovers like they have all season. Their ability to force these turnovers and keep the opposing offense from getting into a rhythm has been big in every game thus far.
So far this season their opponents are averaging 16.8 turnovers per game which are the 5th highest mark in the league.
The Lakers do a solid job in that area as well as they have forced 15 turnovers per game which is tied for 13th in the NBA.
The Grizzlies know how much of a factor this will play into this game. They need to take care of the ball and limit some of the dumb turnovers they’ve been making recently.
If Memphis can do a good job in these areas then they’ll have a really good chance to come out on top. Anytime you face a Lebron James led squad it’s gonna be tough but despite that, they should be confident in their chances.
