Memphis Grizzlies: Brandon Goodwin Could Make His NBA Debut Against The Grizz
By Chris Kern
Brandon Goodwin was a part of the Memphis Grizzlies organization for just a few months but he still made an impact. Now he’s set to potentially make his NBA debut against them.
Brandon Goodwin was impressive during the summer league as well as in his team with the Memphis Grizzlies G-League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle.
He looked like he could be a part of the young core going forward. The Denver Nuggets sure liked what they saw and that led to them signing him to their roster.
He had some special moments in just nine games with the hustle. He made a game-winning layup and scored a team record 36 points in a game.
Goodwin continues to fly under the radar but he has become a very good basketball player. The Grizzlies will miss having him in their organization.
He was signed by Denver to provide some extra depth and now with so many guys injured it’s possible he makes his NBA debut against Memphis.
The Nuggets are without a handful of players which also means the Grizzlies need to capitalize by getting a victory.
Some of these guys have already missed extended time like Will Barton and Isaiah Thomas but with a couple of other guys being added to the injury report, the Nuggets will really struggle.
These are key players listed here too. They could potentially be without four of their top five players in this game.
Gary Harris and Paul Millsap are two guys who have just recently been added to the injury report and it’s possible that both of them could miss at least a couple of weeks.
The one guy who possibly could play is Jamal Murray. He is listed as questionable with a shin injury while the others are officially listed as out.
Most days they would consider sitting Murray but with so many injuries they may feel the need to force him out there to help this team compete.
Monte Morris has played pretty well this season and he would be the starting point guard if Murray can’t go. It’s possible that would move Goodwin into the backup point guard role.
They wouldn’t have signed him if they didn’t trust him. If there was ever a game for him to make his debut this would be it.
If Goodwin was able to make his debut against the team that he started with it would be a very special moment for him, as well as all of his fans.
