The Memphis Grizzlies got blown out at home Saturday night. The lone bright spot in that game was the performance of Wayne Selden.

The Memphis Grizzlies won a tough one Friday night and they had seemingly no energy against the Lakers. A positive though is that we got to see some of the bench guys got some run and Wayne Selden made the most of it.

Selden had been injured and fell out of the rotation but his game Saturday night could be enough to get him another shot to prove himself.

The Grizzlies do still have other injuries on the wing so there still is a need for good play there for the second unit.

MarShon Brooks has been doing a solid job but the coaching staff still isn’t sold on him and rightfully so.

He has made some plays on the offensive end but his inconsistent play is evident. He struggles some on the defensive end and forces shots sometimes on offense.

The Grizzlies have stretches on offense where they struggle to score which is part of the reason Brooks continues to play as he has.

Chandler Parsons continues to battle knee soreness and it is hard to get a read on any possible return. If he does come back at all he likely would take some minutes away from the current Grizzlies bench guys.

Dillon Brooks is the guy who is expected to return sometime during the next couple of weeks. He had started to play really well before he got hurt and you can tell the Grizzlies have been missing him.

His toughness in the second unit has been missing big time and they will benefit greatly once he returns. Omri Casspi has played well in his minutes at the small forward spot but its just tough for him to do so for extended minutes in the NBA today.

All of those guys have been getting minutes before Selden which could mean the end is near for him in Memphis.

He has had some really good moments with the Grizzlies and could get one more chance at extended minutes before Brooks returns from injury.

He joined the team late in the 2016-17 season and was a part of the team that lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the playoffs.

In that series, he played in all six games including being a starter in two of them. He was tasked with guarding Kawhi Leonard defensively at times and did about as good as anybody could’ve expected him to do.

He is known as a high flyer and he has many highlight dunks so far in his career. His ability to finish among the rim is one of the things that make him such an exciting young player.

He has struggled to stay healthy at times which has kept him from showing what he’s fully capable but that’s just the way it works.

Some thought he had a chance to become the shooting guard of the future for this team but now it seems like he might not even have a future with this team.

He has still played in 21 games this season averaging 6.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

His role like many others on the team has varied throughout the season.

The Grizzlies continue to mess with the rotation as they search for the right combination.

They played a lot of small lineups early in the season but now they are almost set on always playing two big lineups.

With Joakim Noah in the fold and JaMychal Green in the fold, those lineups are almost gone. Selden needs to make the most of his opportunity before he falls out of the rotation completely.
