6 Players the Memphis Grizzlies Should Target After December 15th
The Alternative
Rather than pulling off a midseason transaction, the Memphis Grizzlies could stay afloat — and potentially more — by standing pat. After all, Dillon Brooks will soon return from injury to manning the wing once again.
Brooks had a slow and sluggish start to the 2018-19 NBA season, but he had flipped the switch for the better immediately prior to suffering the leg injury.
Dillon should be returning to action any week now. This will add a two-way threat into the Grizzlies’ arsenal. With Garrett Temple struggling in several facets of the game over the past couple of weeks, it would make sense to have Brooks have his hand at the starting shooting guard position.
However, his emergence into Coach Bickerstaff‘s rotation may be delayed due to the stiff backcourt competition by way of MarShon Brooks and Wayne Selden. It will probably be an all-out battle for playing time between these four guys. Thankfully for Dillon, he is accustomed to playing minutes at small forward, too.
Memphis has been playing stellar without much contribution from Dillon Brooks this season, but if he can soon return to his rookie-season form, a handful of the Grizzlies’ current problems will vanish. Sometimes the best move is to not make one at all.
