Breaking News: Memphis Grizzlies Opt Not To Trade For Kelly Oubre
By Chris Kern
The Memphis Grizzlies were thought of as a potential buyer in some deals but very few expected a deal like this. They almost acquired a young stud in Kelly Oubre.
The Memphis Grizzlies don’t have a lot of young assets and they tried to get one who could also make an impact right away.
Kelly Oubre was on his way to Memphis as part of a three-way trade. While MarShon Brooks and Wayne Selden were set to be on their way to Phoenix.
You may notice in that tweet it says Dillon Brooks is on his way to the Suns. That was incorrect and Woj clarified that later on.
That would’ve made many Grizzlies fans very upset though they would’ve loved to get Oubre on this team.
The Wizards desperately wanted to make this deal for Trevor Ariza but as of now, that isn’t happening. It opens the door for other teams to swoop in and get a deal done.
The Grizzlies wanted to trade MarShon but that isn’t what the Suns wanted and the Wizards though Memphis was okay with giving up Dillon.
This eventually led to the deal falling through which is a bummer for all three franchises. They all got rid of the players they wanted to get rid of while bringing in pieces that would improve each team.
As much of this deal would’ve been great for Memphis it does make sense that it falls through. Oubre’s value is more than those two players and a pick and it would’ve been a steal for them.
This team has to move on after this as well especially after losing a tough game at home to Miami. They didn’t play well tonight at all and they have a game tomorrow as well.
They have to get ready to face the Houston Rockets at home Saturday night. It’ll be interesting to see how Selden and Brooks react and how long they remain with the Grizzlies.
