The Memphis Grizzlies’ comeback attempt fell short on Saturday as the team lost 105-97 to the Houston Rockets. These are the biggest positive and negative takeaways from the meeting.

It has been a whirlwind of a weekend for the Memphis Grizzlies. It started with a match against the Miami Heat and ended versus the Houston Rockets. However, everything that happened in-between has Grizz Nation’s head spinning.

NBA fans would think that two back-to-back games — both played on the Grizzlies’ home floor — would not be so bad. Actually, it should be welcomed. Yet, due to the NBA trade rumors that never came to fruition, Memphis got sucker-punched this weekend.

On Saturday, the Memphis Grizzlies did not have a new roster at all, and that is just fine. With an attempt to put the drama aside, they had the high-powered Houston Rockets offense in town. This was a time for Memphis to really prove themselves in the Western Conference. If anything, this club needed a win as they have been somewhat stuck in the mud as of late.

In speaking of the Grizzlies’ roster, they received the news just prior to tip-off that they would be without their starting small forward, Kyle Anderson. After tweaking an ankle in Friday’s game, he would miss his first game of the season.

Had Memphis been without the absence of Anderson, perhaps a positive outcome would have been earned, rather than the 105-97 loss they sustained on Saturday. Alternatively, this gave extended minutes to a few reserves, in addition to opening a new door of opportunity for a Grizz youngster.

The Memphis Grizzlies fell to 16-13 on the season and now face a tall task in facing the Golden State Warriors on Monday. While attempting to regroup, here are the four biggest takeaways Beale Street Bears gained from Saturday’s loss to the Rockets.
