Here to Stay, MarShon and Wayne

With the failed trade of late-Friday evening came some unnecessary drama that the Memphis Grizzlies must address and move beyond. General Manager Chris Wallace did the addressing, and now the Grizz are moving past it by playing MarShon Brooks (13 minutes) and Wayne Selden (eight minutes) against Houston.

It appears as if the Grizzlies only participated as the third team in the rumored transaction due to being able to land a high-quality wing that could take the club to the next level. Plus, it would help thin their crowded backcourt and wing rotation.

Other than that, Memphis is glad to retain Brooks and Selden. MarShon was in attack-mode as always on Saturday, and Wayne brought some energy off the bench. It was business as usual, and both of those guys understand the NBA is a business, too.

With Jevon Carter’s implementation into the lineup, it will likely have an impact on either or both these guys’ minutes, but so did Kyle Anderson’s absence on Saturday. Wayne Selden is the likely odd man out, but the trade rumors serve as the writing on the wall for MarShon in addition to Wayne.
