The Memphis Grizzlies are facing some troubles and these staggering takeaways from Wednesday’s road loss to the Portland Trail Blazers should have fans panicking.

Things are not going well for the Memphis Grizzlies. This was evident in their collapse over the course of 48 minutes on Wednesday as they visited the Portland Trail Blazers.

As the two Western Conference teams played each other on consecutive Wednesdays, this week was incredibly similar to last week, except roles were reversed.

Last week, Portland started the game hot, but Memphis prevailed as Mike Conley demonstrated why he deserves to be an NBA All-Star. In the second match between the Grizz and Blazers, it was Memphis beginning with the hot hand, yet falling apart after the first 12 minutes of play. Damian Lillard was able to give his team the edge on their home floor.

With this loss, the Memphis Grizzlies have lost four straight games and 10 of their last 14. In other words, they have lost all of that early-season momentum that finally had their name placed into national headlines for their surprising success.

In the coming weeks, Grizz Nation will further learn if this is only an unfortunate slump or if the Grizzlies are merely coming back down to earth. Though January’s schedule does not look to be as harsh as December, Memphis’ free fall is certainly concerning.

Beale Street Bears breaks down three staggering takeaways from Wednesday’s loss in Portland as these issues are far more than a one-game worry.
