3 Takeaways From The Memphis Grizzlies Home Loss Against The Brooklyn Nets
By Chris Kern
The Memphis Grizzlies continue to struggle with another home loss. If they can’t get things figured out soon then this team will have no chance at the playoffs.
This was a back and forth game for much of the first three quarters but then the Grizzlies were unable to fight back during the fourth quarter.
They were within striking distance the whole time but a couple of bad plays on both ends of the floor kept them from getting a chance to win this one.
This game featured a lot of the same issues that the Grizzlies have been dealing with for some time now.
Memphis was unable to defend the three-point line and they were also unable to make three-pointers on the offensive end.
The Nets made 13-34 while the Grizzlies made just 5-23. That’s a whopping 24 point difference and it was just too much for Memphis to overcome.
The addition of Justin Holiday will help in that area for sure but it’s going to take more from the current players to right the ship.
On a night that a lot went wrong, there were a couple of positives to take away. The two rookies both made an impact and need to be a focus more going forward.
Jevon Carter played 11 minutes and made an impact on the defensive end of the floor. Shelvin Mack played a four-minute stretch in the first quarter and that was all that we saw of him.
Could this finally be the time that Carter takes over as the backup point guard? We’ll have to wait and see how they manage their minutes Saturday night in San Antonio.
We also saw Jaren Jackson Jr. dominate for stretches of the game. We didn’t see it as consistently as we should’ve and that’s a big reason we lost this game.
The Grizzlies don’t have the talent the top teams in the west do but this team has the pieces to be a playoff contender. Here are a few positive takeaways from tonight’s game that could leave fans optimistic.
