Ja Morant

Ja Morant is a special talent and is truly one of the elite prospects in the 2019 draft class. Playing at Murray State has kept him from getting all the recognition that he deserves.

Uproxx has him slated to go 6th overall in their latest mock draft which means it’s possible Memphis could have a chance to select him.

His ability to impact the game in so many ways is why he’s a special player. He does it all for this team and is putting up huge numbers.

So far this season through 12 games he is averaging 22.4 points, 9.9 assists, and 6.7 rebounds per game. He also averages 1.9 steals per game which shows he can make plays on the defensive end as well.

He has played at an elite level on the road against two SEC teams in Auburn and Alabama falling just short of an upset in both games.

One area he has struggled in is three-point shooting. He is shooting just 31% on the 4.3 attempts per game.

That’s not a terrible number for college especially when he does so many other things on the offensive end but NBA defenses will exploit that weakness in his game.

The NBA three-point line is farther back and he will need to be able to adjust, if he isn’t able to hit over 30% as he has in college it could be a big problem.

It’s nothing to overreact about at the moment since he has the tools to be successful without being a good shooter be if he wants to be special he will need to be better than he currently is.
