Jaren Jackson Jr.

Last but certainly not least we have Jaren Jackson Jr. who looks like he may be the Grizzlies next franchise player.

He has shown the ability to get it done on both ends of the floor. He makes plays on both ends of the floor that someone of his size shouldn’t be able to do.

His shot blocking ability is already elite and he looks well on his way to being an elite defender in this league.

Many feel like he could be a future Defensive Player of the Year but he has also shown the ability to be a great offensive player. He can score the ball from anywhere on the floor.

He can take his defender off the dribble if he is guarded too closely but if you give him space he is more than capable of knocking down an open jumper.

His performance against the Brooklyn Nets is one we will never forget. He put the whole NBA on notice when he led a crazy comeback to force overtime in a game the Grizzlies would go on to win.

He has been inconsistent at times for a variety of reasons but a lot of that has to do with the teams struggles more so than just his.

More from Beale Street Bears

One area he does need to get better in is staying out of foul trouble. He is constantly in foul trouble which keeps him from getting into any kind of rhythm early on which has led to him being nonexistent in many games.

So far this season he is averaging 13.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, and 1 steal per game. He has been efficient from the field in doing so.

He is shooting 52% overall while hitting 34% from three-point range despite a terrible start to the season from beyond the arc.

We can nitpick little parts of his game if we wanted to be critical but there’s no need. He is just 19 years old and has already shown the potential to be a two-way star.

There’s going to be some growing pains but fans should just relax. The team has a brighter future than many feel and that starts with their future franchise player in Jackson Jr.
