The Memphis Grizzlies will be without a key player as they look to break their losing streak. Dillon Brooks will not play against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.

Dillon Brooks has been one of the few bright spots for the Memphis Grizzlies but he will remain out for at least one more game.

He missed the game Monday night in New Orleans which was the 22nd game he has missed this season. That leaves him playing in just under half of the teams game as he has played in 18 of 40.

The first injury was a complete fluke so you can’t worry about his long-term health but him missing so much time has kept him from getting into any kind of rhythm in his sophomore season.

In the games he has played in he is averaging just 7.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He struggled to get into a rhythm in what was a completely different role than he had last season.

Consistency has been an issue for him, in 8 of the games he has played in he has finished with just one made shot attempts.

While on the flip side of that he has five games with more than five made shot attempts which all led to him scoring at least 14 points.

That is something he will continue to work on but it’s hard for him to do so when he is missing so much time due to injuries.

The only positive from him not being available should mean that the Grizzlies are forced to play Justin Holiday more.

That should’ve been the case Monday night as well but he played just 12 minutes in the game without making a shot.

In the two games, he has played in so far he is just 1-10 from the floor for a total of six points. He is also just 0-3 from three-point range in those games.

It will be interesting to see how much they opt to play Jevon Carter in this game and how much they play him alongside Mike Conley.

You always want Brooks on the floor but other players have to step up if they want to win this game. The bench hasn’t played very good recently but maybe this will be the game that changes.
