Shelvin Mack

While Shelvin Mack has struggled recently and lost his job to rookie Jevon Carter it doesn’t mean he has no trade value.

In the 38 games he has played in this season he is averaging 7.7 points and 3 assists per game. He has struggled over the last month or so but he has still made an impact.

He had a really good start to the season and NBA teams noticed. There aren’t any teams at the moment who would trade for him but they will come.

In the month of November, he was playing at a very high level. He averaged 10.1 points and 3.4 assists per game. He did that on 45% from the field and 41% from three-point range.

He had a four-game stretch in early November where he averaged 17 points per game including a 19 point performance in a win over his former team, the Utah Jazz.

His recent struggles will make teams nervous about trading for him and very possibly could keep him from ever being dealt.

It all depends on how many injuries occur to point guards. We never root for injuries but they will happen and there will be at least a team or two that need to trade for a backup point guard and Mack would be that guy.

He doesn’t cost big money and wouldn’t take much to get him at all in a potential trade. It’s a long shot at the moment but don’t be surprised if he is eventually traded away when we get closer to the trade deadline.
