Gorgui Dieng

A deal for Gorgui Dieng might be the most realistic option for Memphis. I haven’t heard any sources link these two teams but the Timberwolves seem like they want out of that contract badly enough that they would be willing to take on Parsons’ money.

As the NBA continued to move towards the bigs who can stretch the floor there is less of a chance for Dieng to succeed.

After this season he has two years, $33.5 million on his deal and Minnesota will want to use that money to continue to build around their young core.

They aren’t looking like a playoff team at the moment and if it stays that way when we get near the deadline they would at the very least consider a deal like this.

After two straight seasons in 2015-16 and 2016-17 where he averaged at least 10 points and 7 rebounds, the team had very high hopes for him.

He was able to cash into a huge deal and it hasn’t led to him having much success. This season he is averaging just 5.5 points and four rebounds in the 41 games he has played in.

That doesn’t mean he couldn’t have any value in Memphis because he could be another guy who could limit Marc Gasol’s minutes.

The Grizzlies won’t want to pay that much money for two years so but if they want to trade Parsons that is what it will take.

If Memphis falls out of the playoff race then this would be a deal that would make a lot of sense to them. Obviously, they want to compete for the playoffs but if the losing continues then expect Dieng rumors to potentially heat up.
