On Wednesday, the Memphis Grizzlies’ JaMychal Green fueled the home crowd early on with a huge poster dunk versus the Milwaukee Bucks.

The losses keep coming at the Memphis Grizzlies, but power forward JaMychal Green is looking to trend in the opposite direction on an individual level.

Though the Grizzlies are rarely picking up wins nowadays — just one victory through eight tries in 2019 — Green has been a major bright spot in the New Year.

211. Final. 111. 89. 101

New Year? New JaMyke. Thus far in 2019, he is averaging 12.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and just shy of one block in 24.1 minutes per game.

JaMychal is finding offensive success via an eye-popping 57.1% accuracy from the field. Most underrated has been his three-point shot at a 41.2% clip in prior to Wednesday’s duel with the Milwaukee Bucks.

These numbers are increased from his average statistics of 10.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.8 blocks in 23.1 minutes per game through the first 24 games he played to round out 2018. His shooting percentages rested at 50.3%, including 39.2% from long-range.

It is not just the stat sheet that is looking more impressive from JaMychal Green. He has been providing a large sum of energy for his Memphis Grizzlies, enabling the secondary unit to look better than the starters, as was the case against the Bucks.

As the Grizzlies faced a first quarter deficit in the Grindhouse on Wednesday, JaMychal gave the home crowd much to cheer about with a ferocious slam dunk. His thunder may very well have been detected on the Richter scale. Take a look for yourself.

Wait a minute…let’s put it in slow motion.

Finally, something positive that the basketball world is taking notice of regarding the Memphis Grizzlies. This throwdown of a dunk instantly had social media outlets buzzing.

On Wednesday evening, you could say that it was a JaMychal Green takeover regardless of the final score, which was not favorable for his Grizzlies.

Allow Beale Street Bears to break the play down. Shelvin Mack had control of the basketball while JaMychal Green set the pick. Once the pick-‘n’-roll was conducted masterfully, Mack dished the rock off to Green.

Milwaukee did their homework. They knew that they must defend JaMyke when he catches the ball at the top of the three-point stripe. Once he utilized the pump-fake, he was able to use his strength and quickness to slide beyond the Bucks’ D.J. Wilson.

From here, the only item remaining between the Memphis Grizzlies’ No. 0 and the basket was none other than Milwaukee’s Ersan Ilyasova.

Ilyasova currently leads the NBA in charges drawn, but that did not strike fear in JaMychal. He went for it. He went up, up, and away. He climbed the ladder. Green skied for a thunderous dunk that was heard around the 901.

Memphis does not make NBA headlines for crazy dunks very often, but JaMychal Green made them relevent in this category on Wednesday. Plus, this is surely a top candidate of a play to earn “Dunk of the Year” accolades by the completion of this 2018-19 NBA season.

The hard work demonstrated by JaMyke on a nightly basis typically goes unnoticed by most. However, on this particular night, Green receives a well-deserved standing ovation. It would be nice if some of his other teammates would show up with similar energy and motivation on a nightly basis.
