Memphis Grizzlies: It’s Time To Start Building Around Jaren Jackson Jr.
By Chris Kern
Who Else Will Stay In Memphis?
I would make everybody on this roster available on the trade block, some more so than others. But if you’re able to get back good or even decent compensation for Conley or Gasol you have to make the move.
The rumors for those two as well as many other players will heat up over the next couple of weeks. Guys like Holiday, Temple, and JaMychal Green could all be moved.
Other players certainly have the potential to get traded as well but those are likely the guys who would bring back the most value.
The only other player besides Jackson who I would make unavailable is Kyle Anderson. He has shown us all how valuable he is to this team and at just 25 years old, he can be a part of this teams long-term future.
His ability to create on offense and make plays on both ends of the floor make him a perfect compliment for young players the Grizzlies will look to bring in.
Anderson continues to improve his offensive game to go with his already elite defensive play. He isn’t the most flashy player but he is on a friendly contract and could potentially be the leader of a young, rebuilding team.
Dillon Brooks is another guy that may be unavailable in trade talks. He has shown his worth on both ends of the floor but some injuries this season will limit him to just 18 games as he had season-ending toe surgery just recently.
The Grizzlies already showed how much they valued him when they thought they acquired Kelly Oubre but later called off the trade when the Phoenix Suns wanted Dillon while Memphis was only willing to offer MarShon Brooks.
That was a deal that the Grizzlies should’ve at least considered and with the way Oubre is playing it looks like Memphis may have made a mistake. Despite how much they value Brooks, he should at least be somewhat available in trade talks.
