Memphis Grizzlies’ NBA Trade Rumors Could Boost Indiana Amid Victor Oladipo Injury
The Verdict
All Pacers fans will want Mike Conley first and foremost in any deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. However, the financials do not meet in agreement unless they severely tear apart their core that has brought them much success, even in Victor Oladipo’s absence.
Still, that does not mean that these two teams will not be contacting each other to discuss smaller transactions. In fact, a small transaction is just what the Indiana Pacers need. They have proven to be just fine when Vic is in a shooting slump or if he is sitting out with an injury. Much like the Memphis Grizzlies, Indy is designed to have a slew of versatile players that can fill in when injury strikes.
For Memphis, the end of an era is in sight. It is sounding as if a fire sale is about to open as long as salary can be shed (especially from future years), Draft picks can be had, and/or promising pieces can be attained on the cheap.
In the particular scenario of the Pacers and Grizzlies, all Indy really has to do is inquire and Memphis is likely to throw whatever they want at them if it consists of Mike Conley, Garrett Temple, Justin Holiday, and more. With Indy’s specific needs, it only becomes a matter of what the Pacers would be willing to part with in order to retain traction in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
With two weeks until the NBA Trade Deadline, the Memphis Grizzlies look to be major players in trade discussions. Following Wednesday’s Victor Oladipo injury, the Indiana Pacers are sure to be making calls, too. There is no reason why both teams cannot come away as winners in doing business with each other.
