We all know the drama surrounding the Memphis Grizzlies but we should try and stay positive. Bruno Caboclo has come in and played well and deserves to be signed for the rest of the season.

The Memphis Grizzlies continue to struggle but they may have found themselves a young stud in Bruno Caboclo. He was signed to a 10-day contract and seems as if he has found himself a home.

The Grizzlies have to do what’s right here and lock him up for the rest of the season. They could even consider offering him an extension through next season as well.

He has only played a few games for this team so you don’t want to overreact but he has already shown you so much. He hasn’t shot a high percentage but he has shown the ability to knock down shots and his defensive impact is something that very few players in this league possess.

Through his first four games with the team, he is averaging 5.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. He is doing that on just 32% shooting from the field including 28% from three-point range.

People who haven’t watched him play may look at that stat line and think he doesn’t deserve a contract but his playmaking on the defensive end is enough by itself to make him worth a contract. His offensive game still has a ways to go but he is just 23 years old so he has plenty of time to continue to improve.

He has shown the ability to impact the game and the Grizzlies need to make sure he is on board for the long haul. At the very least he should be signed for the rest of the season.

His best game so far was probably in the win over the Indiana Pacers. He scored 11 points while also blocking two shots. He also went 3-4 from three-point range in that game.

He has never played big minutes in his career as he has in Memphis. So far he is averaging 23 minutes per game with the Grizzlies despite averaging just 7.8 minutes in his 39 career NBA games.

The Grizzlies don’t have a lot of young pieces they have going forward and outside of Jaren Jackson Jr., they don’t have anybody with much potential. Caboclo has struggled early in his career but it’s not a bold statement at all to say he still has a higher ceiling than everyone on the team outside of Jackson Jr.

They do have some other young guys such as Dillon Brooks who look like they can be key contributors but they don’t have star potential. Jevon Carter and Ivan Rabb also have fans excited and they could potentially be rotation pieces going forward.

This team has a good young wing on their roster and this franchise is going through some big changes. They need to do whatever it takes to keep Caboclo on board for the foreseeable future.
