Tyler Harvey went on a scoring rampage for the Memphis Hustle, G-League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies. It now ranks as the season-high in points in the NBA’s developmental league.

On Saturday evening, as the Memphis Grizzlies had the day off, Tyler Harvey and the Memphis Hustle found themselves in a high-scoring affair against the Iowa Wolves.

Harvey pumped in a whopping 58 points. The Hustle, as a team, combined for 128 total points. That means Tyler contributed 43.5% of his squad’s points.

In breaking down the ways Tyler Harvey scored so many baskets, he can create his own shot at any given moment. He can finish on the fastbreak, knock down shots from outside, and more. Harvey can also draw contact, get to the line, and put the opposition into foul trouble.  Check out the highlights directly below:

The only disappointment from Saturday night is the fact the Memphis Hustle lost in overtime by three points. Still, the talk of the G-League right now is the scoring explosion by the Hustle’s Harvey.

The abundance of baskets by both Tyler Harvey (individually) and the Hustle (as a whole) is something uncharacteristic of the Grizzlies in their current state. They need scoring ability in a major way, and is a reason why Beale Street Bears recently suggested the Memphis Grizzlies need to take a chance via 10-day contract on a few of these professional prospects.

About a month ago, Tyler Harvey was one of the mentioned names. Today, he should absolutely be in the conversation if and when an open roster spot presents itself. It is worth a shot since the Grizzlies need any all all scoring that they can get.

The Memphis Grizzlies acquired the rights to Tyler Harvey in the 2018 offseason when the team dealt Jarell Martin to the Orlando Magic in order to free open a small amount of cap space. At the time, Harvey was a shoe-in just to sweeten the deal for Memphis. Now, he is looking like real value and a possible NBA talent.

Tyler’s 58 points was just four points shy of tying the all-time NBA developmental league single-game scoring record, which was set in March of 2016 by a former Grizzly — Russ Smith. This is the highest single-game scoring total by an individual player in the G-League this season.
