The news of Marc Gasol being traded today was heartbreaking but remember what happened the last time the Memphis Grizzlies traded a Gasol.
A Ring In Marc Gasol’s Future
Of all the teams that were interested in Marc Gasol, the Toronto Raptors were the best option for him, as a player. Currently, the Raptors sit at the 2nd spot in the Eastern Conference. Their play style and acquisition of Kawhi Leonard has most definitely led to this season’s success.
This being said, it is safe to say that we will see Big Spain in the postseason this year come April. Gasol deserves a championship or at least a legitimate run at one before it’s too late.
His loyalty to Memphis has been strong and we all know he wishes he could still play in Beale Street Blue. Unfortunately, the franchise has decided to move on.
But the last time that Memphis traded a Gasol brother, it led to Pau Gasol‘s first championship in 2009, with the Los Angeles Lakers. Keeping that in mind, the Raptors are a high caliber team that can use Gasol to boost their way to the postseason, finals, and a hopeful championship in Toronto.
Though this may be the first time, since 2001, that a player by the name of Gasol has not played for the Memphis Grizzlies, it can be the opportunity for another Gasol brother to win an NBA World Championship. Plus, there is a small chance, the Grizzlies could bring Marc in the future.
Overall, it will be hard to see Gasol in anything other than a Memphis uniform, especially after the way the season started, but keep in mind, this can the chance for him to get the ring he deserves.
