The Memphis Grizzlies are making move this trade deadline. JaMychal Green and Garrett Temple are going to the Clippers to join a postseason push.
The Memphis Grizzlies are making big moves now. After trading Marc Gasol to Toronto they aren’t done dealing. They are sending JaMychal Green and Garrett Temple to the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Clippers seemed to be giving up on the playoffs after trading Tobias Harris but after this deal that certainly isn’t the case. Bringing in Green and Temple help them bolster their depth.
They’re a team that is focused on depth and playing as a team together. Their playoff chances might not be very likely but they certainly aren’t giving up on this season.
For the Grizzlies this deal doesn’t necessarily make a lot of sense. They have traded three of their top trade assets and the only pick they acquired was a future second-round pick.
Avery Bradley is a good player for sure but I’m not sure how much he helps right away and what kind of fit he has going forward for the future.
He is 28 years old so he can help stay somewhat competitive but I’m not sure what the Grizzlies plan is. It’ll be more clear after the deadline and we see if they plan on trading Conley this summer or not.
He is a good fit alongside Conley for sure but I just don’t see how this helps the Grizzlies’ rebuild. Hopefully, we get more clarity over the next few hours about what the team’s plans are but we’ll have to wait and see. At the end of the day at least the team is making moves like they needed to do.
