Memphis Grizzlies News: Shelvin Mack Traded To Atlanta For Tyler Dorsey
By Chris Kern
Memphis Grizzlies fans are getting their wish. Shelvin Mack had some good moments in a Grizzlies uniform but he is now heading to Atlanta for Tyler Dorsey.
The Memphis Grizzlies are sending their backup point guard Shelvin Mack to the Atlanta Hawks. Tyler Dorsey is coming to Memphis in return.
Mack has had some really good moments for Memphis but there was no reason to keep him around. Dorsey is a good young guard who has some talent and could potentially be a part of this team going forward.
He isn’t the best player they acquired today but he may be the most exciting. He hasn’t done much in the NBA so far but if you remember him from his college days at Oregon he led them to a Final Four appearance alongside Dillon Brooks.
That is the other fun part about this deal. Those two former college teammates are now on the same NBA team and I’m sure that has both of them very excited.
With Mack expected to be waived now he is someone to keep an eye on for the buyout market. There are a lot of teams opening up roster spots for players who are expected to be bought out.
It is getting to the point where there are too many teams preparing to get one of those key players. Mack is someone who many playoff teams could target if they are unable to land someone like Wayne Ellington or Wesley Matthews.
A new era is starting in Memphis. Mack had a lot of struggles with the team but he got blamed way more than he deserved. We wish him the best going forward and hope to see him in the playoffs in April.
