With the Grit n’ Grind Era officially coming to a close, bringing back Tony Allen is one way the Memphis Grizzlies can excite their fans.
In recent months, Tony Allen has become a part of the Memphis Grizzlies organization again but not in a way that many people know about.
For those that watch the Chris Vernon Show, they know that there is a segment now called, Tuesday’s with Tony. This is where, every Tuesday, Allen joins Vernon in the studio. Personally, many fans would love to see him back on the court.
With a whole new group of players becoming part of the Grizzlies family these past few months, many fans want to reminisce about the past. The Gasol trade has not made this any easier. Yes, the future is bright for Memphis but what about the past?
They had seven straight playoff appearances and were contenders in the Western Conference. They were led by their core four. Allen was a key part of all of that. Everyone remembers his 1st team All-Defense chant and his incredible plays in Beale Street Blue.
Why not see it again? His home is even located in Memphis. Therefore he deserves a chance to be welcomed back to the FedEx Forum with open arms.
With the dark cloud that hangs over the Grizzlies right now, the return of Allen would sell out the Forum and bring back crowd involvement in the game. That is a guaranteed fact.
The signing of Allen to a 10-day contract would bring an old school feel to this new team. Unfortunately, as of now, the team does not hold enough roster spots but this is very much a possibility for the future. Keep your eyes out for how he could be an even greater part of this organization even if he never puts on a uniform again.
