Marc Gasol’s Top Moments With The Memphis Grizzlies
By Chris Kern
More Than Just A Player
Blake Monroe: Big Spain is more than a man, more than a player, and more than a game. Marc Gasol was Memphis. Memphis, TN is home to the most famous, helpful, and innovative children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude provides the type of care for any child and family dealing with cancer for no cost to the family.
This hospital is a huge part of Memphis, as well. Not because it is a building that provides care to sick children but because it is a home full of hope and love that has captured the attention of the world.
The Grizzlies, but more importantly, Marc Gasol’s involvement with these kids is something extraordinary. He, along with other players, would visit these kids, sign autographs, among other items. Last season, Marc Gasol debuted a pair of shoes designed by the children at St. Jude Cancer Research Hospital.
These shoes showed these kids that there are some many others that care for them and support them. While the other articles presented “in the best of” show the player he was on the court, we are also really glad to show you about the man he was off the court. Gasol has been on the front of helping others.
He volunteered to help refugee rescue efforts because he is more than a basketball player. His involvement and commitment to the City of Memphis is something that will never be forgotten and am sure is something he will never forget.
Just because he plays for another team does not mean his love for the City is any different. He changed the lives of those around him, including those battling cancer. His Jersey may hang from the rafters of FedEx Forum one day, but his legacy will be seen throughout all of Memphis, especially at St. Jude.
