Marc Gasol’s Top Moments With The Memphis Grizzlies

Christian Dudley: In the summer of 2016, Marc Gasol was a free-agent for the first time in his NBA career. It was uncertain if he would bolt town to head to a large-market NBA franchise or if he would remain loyal.
Looking back, fans of the Memphis Grizzlies should be ashamed of themselves if they ever second-guessed Marc’s loyalty. While he could have chosen from teams such as the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, or San Antonio Spurs, he ultimately decided to stick with the Memphis Grizzlies.

In the end, Marc Gasol never demanded a trade. He never hinted that he would opt out of his current contract by the end of the 2018-19 season.
That may be something that will never be answered, and it does not matter. He was traded, and though he was agreeable to the deal, through thick and thin, Marc was a consummate professional through 10.5 seasons as a Grizzly.
Upon re-signing with the Grizzlies, the announcement was made public at the Grindhouse.
Fans were invited for the special press conference. Marc signed autographs, took pictures with fans, and mingled among the fan base that had welcomed him since before he wore a Grizzlies uniform. It was a special moment in time indeed.
Because Marc Gasol chose to re-sign with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2016 via a $110 million maximum contract, their competitiveness was extended for an additional season.
They clinched a playoff birth in that 2016-17 season, which proved to be another big opportunity for the Spaniard to flex his muscle for the rest of the league to know who he is — one of the best two-way centers the league has seen.
