Chris Kern: “Jaren Jackson Jr. Is representing the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2019 Mtn Dew Ice Rising Stars game at NBA All-Star Weekend. It’s good to see the Grizzlies’ young star get some recognition for his play this season.

He has been inconsistent at times, but every rookie outside of Luka Doncic has gone through a lot of struggles. Speaking of Doncic, he will be leading Team World in this game as they look to win their fourth Rising Stars Challenge in the past five years, which was when they switched to the World/USA format.

This is going to be a game with a lot of points. Each of the past three seasons, we have seen a team score more than 150 points, so we can expect that trend to continue.

Jackson Jr. is going to show out on the national stage. I predict his stat line to be 23 points, four rebounds, and three blocks while outplaying some of the big men on the World team, such as Deandre Ayton and Lauri Markkanen.

If Team USA wants to win, they will have to contain reigning MVP Bogdan Bogdanovic as he had 26 points, six assists, and four rebounds in a 155-124 win last season.

Team USA has more overall talent by a wide margin with guys such as Kyle Kuzma, De’Aaron Fox, and Donovan Mitchell, but the best two players on Team World with Ben Simmons and Luka Doncic.

Expect a tight battle that goes down to the wire with Team USA getting the win. Jaren Jackson Jr will be in the MVP conversation, but I predict that award will go to Donovan Mitchell as he drops a 30-point performance.”
