Memphis Grizzlies: Predicting Mike Conley’s Success in NBA All-Star Weekend’s Skills Challenge
The field is set for NBA All-Star Weekend’s Skills Challenge. How likely is it for Mike Conley to bring home a trophy for the Memphis Grizzlies?
Day two of three for NBA All-Star Weekend 2019 is upon us. The most anticipated events of the weekend take place this evening, and thankfully Mike Conley will be representing the Memphis Grizzlies in tonight’s Taco Bell Skills Challenge.
Conley is one-half of the Grizzlies’ tandem representing the city of Memphis in Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend. Jaren Jackson Jr. put on for the Grizz on Friday night in the Mtn Dew Ice Rising Stars Challenge with 10 points (4/6 shooting), six rebounds, and a steal in 16 minutes of action. Now, Grizz Nation’s eyes are focused on “Captain Clutch.”
Though Mike Conley would really enjoy playing on NBA All-Star Weekend’s biggest stage on Sunday, participating in the Skills Challenge is a solid consolation prize. It is not all about the appearance and the experience. For a fierce competitor like Conley, it is a legitimate opportunity for Mike to win the event and add hardware to his résumé.
Basketball fans across the globe should fully expect a determined Conley to take the floor on Saturday for this event. Now is his chance to turn more heads and prove to the hoops world that he absolutely has the tools to earn an NBA All-Star Game selection regardless of conference.
Though the name of the game is based upon head-to-head challenges within an obstacle course of sorts, Mike will be competing against a field of seven other NBA players of various positions, skill sets, and levels of experience. It will be an interesting and intriguing competition to say the least — something that all NBA fans will love.
While the Skills Challenge bracket is not yet available, Beale Street Bears weighs in on what to watch and how Mike Conley may fare while donning his Memphis Grizzlies uniform. Catch all the NBA All-Star Saturday Night action beginning at 8:00 PM Eastern Time on TNT.
