As the Memphis Grizzlies get set to return to action after the all-star break they will be welcoming back an old face. Chandler Parsons is set to return to the rotation for the rest of the season.

It appeared as if Chandler Parsons‘ time with the Memphis Grizzlies was over after he suddenly left the team in early January but now he is back and ready to play. His time in Memphis hasn’t been a success by any means but it will be interesting to see how he fits into the rotation going forward.

The Grizzlies already struggled to find minutes for everybody but now with Parsons coming back that will get even tougher, and that’s before we get the return of Kyle Anderson. With veterans coming over at the NBA Trade Deadline minutes for the young players will be hard to come by.

It will be hard for guys like Bruno Caboclo and Jevon Carter to get consistent minutes in the rotation. The way those two have been playing we can expect them to get some minutes but it may be difficult to find them minutes on a nightly basis.

It will be interesting to see how many minutes Parsons ends up getting. We have guys such as Justin Holiday and C.J. Miles as well who will warrant big minutes and both should have a larger role than Parsons going forward.

J.B. Bickerstaff will have his hand’s full managing minutes for the final 23 games and if we learned anything from the first part of the season it is very hard to predict what he will do. You want all these guys to get minutes but they have to make Jaren Jackson Jr.’s development the main objective the rest of the way.

Parsons is likely going to remain a part of the rotation for the rest of the season whether he deserves it or not because of his contract. That is assuming he is able to stay healthy though which we all know it’s very possible that he isn’t able to do so.

The Grizzlies are still planning on winning games and if Parsons can help this team do that then he deserves to play but if not put someone in who can. Coach Bickerstaff shouldn’t be forced to play Parsons unless he is actually contributing.
