Brandon Clarke

Brandon Clarke is a 6’8″ forward and might be the player mentioned in this article that you’re the most familiar with. He plays for a national championship contender in the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

They have a lot of NBA prospects on this team and he often gets overshadowed. He isn’t going to take over a game for his team but he gets it done on both ends of the floor and has the tools needed to be a good role playing big in this league.

This is actually his first season at Gonzaga after transferring over from San Jose State. He is averaging 16.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game. That is second on the team in scoring behind potential All-American and NBA lottery pick Rui Hachimura who is averaging 20.4 points per game.

The most impressive stat surrounding him is his nation-leading 69.2% shooting from the field. He may need to develop a three-point shot to be a successful pro but he has the tools to warrant consideration with a second-round pick.

In today’s NBA a 6’8″ power forward isn’t really considered undersized anymore. Sure we have the seven-foot specimen such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant but for the most part, he should be just fine.

His best game so far this season was in a road win over the Creighton Blue Jays as he finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds on 9-12 shooting in a 103-92 victory. He also played well on the defensive end as he recorded two steals and two blocks.

He isn’t the most exciting player but he contributes every night and does so on both ends of the floor. His impact would be similar to what we’re seeing from Ivan Rabb and if you’re able to fill your bench with guys like that, you know you can count on them to give 100% effort every game.

He has a chance to be a late second round pick for that reason and some teams may view him as a possible rotation piece as well. If he does slip out of the draft or if the Grizzlies have a chance to select him don’t be surprised if they do just that. Expect him to at least be on a two-way contract next season but if he is available, the Memphis Hustle should pick him up right away.
