Former Memphis Grizzlies guard Mario Chalmers is extending his professional hoops career a little longer. This time, he will take on the BIG3 three-on-three circuit.

The BIG3 league is on a roll lately with popular names agreeing to join its forum of three-on-three professional hoops. While they have signed a few former NBA All-Stars, they have inked some entertaining lesser names such as former Memphis Grizzlies guard Mario Chalmers.

Chalmers last appeared in the NBA during the 2017-18 season as a member of the Grizzlies. Since then, he has been playing in the Italian League in an attempt to extend his playing career meanwhile proving that he still has something left in the tank.

“Rio” is now approaching the age of 33. With two NBA World Championships under his belt, he has been on top of the NBA world on multiple occasions. Therefore, not much is left for Mario Chalmers to prove. Ultimately, this is an example of a player fulfilling his love for the game. Who could blame him?

On Thursday, the BIG3 league announced several additional names had been placed into their Draft Pool. Seemingly by the day, more notable and popular names formerly of the NBA are committing to BIG3 ahead of the league’s March 19th deadline. It is remarkable the brand that Ice Cube is building.

The latest commitment comes from Mario Chalmers. It is easy to see why BIG3 would want him in their league. He was always a gritty player — one that got underneath his opponent’s skin. He has always been a true baller — crafty with a hint of scrappiness. Plus, he is known for nailing some clutch shots over the course of his collegiate and professional hoops career.

As the above highlight video displays, Mario Chalmers was an NBA player made for big moments. Fans of the Memphis Grizzlies most notably remember his 901 tenure for the game-winning bucket versus the Detroit Pistons. It was epic!
