Memphis Grizzlies: How Potential NBA Draft Targets Fared In The First Weekend Of The NCAA Tournament
By Chris Kern
Cam Reddish
Cam Reddish has been in the shadow of his Duke teammates all season and his draft stock has fallen because of it. He is still expected to be selected in the top half of the lottery, but earlier in the season he was thought of as a top three pick.
On the big stage during the NCAA Tournament, they all are needed for this team to do something special. This is a Duke team that struggles to shoot the ball so they will be relying on him in that area in a big way. He didn’t play a huge role in their 85-62 opening round win against North Dakota State.
Reddish finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a blocked shot. He won’t put up big numbers most games, but he is still very valuable for this team. He is known as a shooter, but he has also shown how he can make a difference on the defensive end of the floor.
UCF had a great gameplan defensively against Duke which made the non-shooters beat them from the perimeter. This led to Reddish finishing with just 13 points on 5-8 shooting, but he did make three of Duke’s 10 three-point shots. He did knock down a clutch three-pointer with 1:41 left to cut UCF’s led to just one.
Reddish isn’t filling up the stat sheet in this NCAA Tournament which will affect his stock, but he is still a very good prospect and should be high on the Memphis Grizzlies draft board. Look to see him be more aggressive offensively when Duke plays next week in the Sweet 16 and possibly beyond.
